This tool preforms far above my skill level. it's GREAT!
this is a truly amazing tool. i wish i was a better mechanic to fully use all its functions.ive been using this for a bit. my own car, coworkers, and family to see if there was anything suspicious going on under the hood. its automatic diagnostic runs smoothly and creates a checklist of systems and features.you can see from the pictures what the case looks like. the pictures from amazon are adequate but i put mine here to prove i have the diagnostic tool and im not some company smuck writing a vague review.the tablet is good. it is a standard tablet so i can use it for casual games while im looking busy. it has a camera i use to take pictures to show people what im working on. it connects to networks for internet. i get youtube. it is a tablet and does what a tablet do.it comes with more adapters than i know what to do it and for cars im far too poor to ever get my hands on. the brick that plugs into the OBD II will not fit into my FORD without the extender adapter. the plastic housing is preventing access. i could have unscrewed the tip from car and plugged it into the dangling card but the kit comes with everything.i can go on forever.. the live data is immensely helpful too. i haven't needed it to repair anything yet but it was cool to see the data scroll for a healthy if not aging FORD.TL;DR - its only limitation is user.the price is steep but if i were to charge myself and the people i have been testing this tool i could recuperate the cost. there are free updates for 2 years. it is not mandatory to update after the two years and you can still use the tool after the two years. which is one more reason i got this. look at it this way, the price is a 2 year subscription. for , like 65 bucks and tax you get a tablet, OBDII, carrying case and every single adapter. its a great price.lastly, you have access to a database, technical support, car support, and an invite to facebook which gives yo more access to information.

Excellent tool for complex car DIYer, pays for itself
This tool has done everything I needed to do with my Porsche Cayenne S 958. From deep diagnostic reports to clearing faults in various modules to coding special hidden options and a steering wheel change. I've used it to help friends diagnose engine lights and code modules. It gets pretty deep with BMW as well and has some special functions with Mercedes. Although there is not a ton of support from Launch, there is a lot of info out on the internet for specific vehicles, then you just have to dig into the menus of the software while connected to your vehicle and figure out how to apply settings from other sources using this tool / software.I wish Launch would sell software only, as it's basically just a good spec Android tablet with their app loaded and licensed. I don't really need another tablet, and haven't had any use for any of the myriad of cables, just the OBD2 dongle for vehicles made in the last 15 years or so. It's a Bluetooth dongle that stores neatly in the rugged protective case over the tablet. If they just sold the Bluetooth dongle and the app license any recent Android phone could do the same job.Overall this tool is a great value for anyone who wants to be a DIY mechanic on aging complex cars that would cost a bundle to fix at a dealer or specialty shop. It has certainly paid for itself in diagnostic info and time savings. I was at tire kingdom just recently and they charged an old lady $142 just to hook up the computer diagnostic on her old Ford Focus to check an engine light. Wish I had it with me at the time. I would have done a 10 minute report for free complete with emailed report.

Works well, easy set up and updates
I made the mistake of buying a $500.00 scanner that did not have bi-directional controls, at the time I said why spend an additional $300.00 when I will most likely never use this feature. Well it seems every time I used the scanner I was disappointed at the inability to go that last step and actuate the system I was looking at. The free updates ended at the two year mark and I decided to not spend the additional money to update the somewhat lacking scanner. I looked at the 431 series at that time and went with another brand. Every time I used the other brand scanner I beat myself up for not spending the small amount of additional money to buy the bi-directional scanner. If I would have bought the bi- directional scanner of the other major brand sold on Amazon I would not have bought a new scanner keeping in mind I would not have bought the crazy expensive update I didn’t need either. The Launch 431 v pro registration and update was quick and painless, no issues and was up and running in 15 min. I like the size and weight of the 431 v pro and find that the scanner is quite responsive. The update process is fast, and the WiFi connection stable even when using a hot spot. The overall layout and design of the software works well, no issues during use. I do wish the cable for the VCI was a foot or two longer the current length put the VCI in a inconvenient location lacking the ability to set the VCI anywhere other than the floor of the car in both vehicles I used the scanner on.The feature set on the 431 v pro is pretty good and seems to work as well or slightly better than my two year old scanner. I actually prefer the layout of the older scanner software better. When the two years of free updates are up there is a pretty good chance I will be in the market for another scanner, makes no sense to me to spend $500.00 dollars or more to update an older notebook/ scanner when for again $300.00 more I can buy a current version with new and faster hardware. Either way the $800.00 spent is well worth the investment if you repair your vehicles a few time during that two years and especially if you own GM vehicles with electrical ghosts. One thing that perplexed me is the vast assortment of adaptors that ship with this scanner, I don’t need any of them and would like an option to delete the adaptors and bring the cost down while making the case much smaller. The adaptors are my only complaint with this scanner if I had to find a complaint. Overall very happy with the performance of the 431 v pro. I did update the SD card to 128GB the process is simple and takes all of 10 min to accomplish. The outer protective case goes back together with no issues.
