Cooks evenly, heats up quickly, relatively energy efficient, but timer and beep poor
The media could not be loaded. This is a great oven. It heats up much quicker than my previous oven and is supposed to be more energy efficient. The price seemed really competitive as it is at an entry-level price point for a great oven. It has top, bottom, and fan heat, and grill, and several modes that combine these in different combinations. The pizza mode made me a very nice pizza last night.I really like this oven, but it does have a few flaws. What would make this oven even better?- Three wire shelf racks rather than one: I had to buy another and may buy a third (spare shelves are easily available). It comes with a huge tray that sits on the shelf runners, but this will also block air circulation more than a baking sheet on a wire shelf so I really don't think I will use this often, if at all. If I did cook on it, it's also huge and will be difficult to clean in the sink because it's so big. And where do you store such a huge thing when you don't want it in the oven? Very poor decision by Hotpoint there. Just give us three normal wire shelves!- The timer is disappointing: the beep is really really quiet, as others have pointed out (see, or hear, my video for an example). Who designed that? If you're in another room or if there is significant background noise there is little chance of you hearing it going off.- The timer is also disappointing in that you generally have to press the buttons twice because the first press will reset the clock. And it seems the timer button behaves differently when the oven is on compared to when it is off, which has taken us quite some time to get used to! Surely, on an oven, the "timer" function is by far the most-used function of the display/panel. So why isn't it the first thing you get when you press the timer button?- The timer buttons are a little disappointing: they aren't “real” buttons but are touch-sensitive areas which you have to press, so you tend to sometimes miss them when you go to press them. I can see why manufacturers go for capacitive buttons like this because they reduce the "part count" (and thus their costs), and they also provide a sleek flat surface that is easy to clean. But why don't they put ever so slightly raised areas that you can feel so you get some “haptic” feedback when your finger is on the button? It could be just a minimally raised area that is still simple to clean and doesn't collect dirt, but which the finger can more easily “find”, surely?- A very minor gripe, but Hotpoint claim the heating is extremely even throughout the entire oven cavity. The heating is indeed much more even than in my previous oven, but things do still brown slightly unevenly. It is pretty good in this respect, though: I just think their claims are slightly hyperbolic. It is really easy to use too, though. Just turn the knob to the mode you want and the temperature to the temp you want. I have used some modern ovens where you have to cycle through modes with buttons that have weird icons on them that I struggle to understand. This has two knobs and is super quick and trivial to use.The light inside is also good. It is sited near the front of the oven so you can see your food well as it cooks. My last oven had a bulb nearer the back and it lit things quite unevenly and poorly. It also heats up nice and quickly – typically in nine minutes or less from cold to 200C.And it's so easy to install as well! You just plug it in. So much easier than other ovens needing an electrician call-out to connect up your oven (or even to install a new high-current fused spur for it).So overall this is a fantastic oven at a great price, and I would buy it again in an instant if I needed a replacement. It’s just a shame they didn’t provide three wire shelves, and that more thought didn’t go into the timer.

Oven
Price was good, but charging me ÂŁ14-99 to carry it into my building to my door was excessive , won't by again from AO,

Good value with simple functions
Quite a basic oven, but it cooks well and looks nice enough. It's a good size, but it's worth ordering another wire grill as it only comes with one. Happy with the purchase.

Easy to install
Can’t believe how efficient this oven is. It really deserves the A+ energy rating. It arrived and within one hour I had fitted it. So easy to install. Temperature is even all around so cakes come out evenly cooked; used the pizza setting for the first time and it comes out perfectly cooked - no need for Dominoes. Very pleased with purchase.

Great value for money
Works great, cooks everything perfectly. The only things i dislike are the cheap knobs (not very accurate choosing the correct temperature, could do with clearer markings) and only getting one wire rack. Could definitely do with two!

Excellent value for money
I've had the oven for around 6 weeks now and am really pleased with it.We bought the oven as a cheap replacement to one that I had managed to bust using the internal clean function (won't be doing that again), but didn't want to spend the earth as we want a new kitchen in the not too distant future. The oven has loads of functions, most of which I won't ever use. I'm quite simple in just needing an oven and grill function, so generally for the oven just set it to the fan function with all sides heating - this seems to do the trick. The oven has performed well so far. It heats up really quickly and gives a low beep to tell you when it is ready. The heat is maintained throughout cooking and all of our food has come out evenly cooked. It was really easy to install - pick up out of the box and plug in.The only downside (and this is being picky) is there is only one shelf. There are two trays which fit but I would prefer another shelf. I'll just have to order another one as the old oven ones, despite it being the same size strangely don't fit internally. So would I recommend - absoluetly.
