Okay, but way too preachy!
Videos were made in 2008 and not in today's high definition, but good for those times. Too much preaching about the environment. Interesting locations. There are 8 twenty minute+ videos of various Pacific places. Comes with Blu Ray and DVD.

Beautiful photography for your Blu Ray player
This is a superb product, the photography is excellent, the programs are relaxed and relaxing, its like being there and you appreciate this with pauses in the narration. The program on French Polynesia as a Green Paradise (no mention of the French nuclear tests) was perhaps the best, and the way it ended with a wave gently washing up the beach to a coconut was so artistic. For some crazy reason they are dirt cheap, but if you like noisy entertainments this isn't for you. If you have an interest in the beauty of nature it definitely is for you.

Worth a look
This video tells the story of 5 different locations, mostly islands in the Pacific...but the stories concentrate on one specific location on each country. I say mostly Pacific Ocean, but the Australian site was actually on the Indian Ocean side of the country. Now, obviously, you can't really expect to learn all that much about 5 different countries from one disc. What the editors of this disc do is concentrate on one location within each country. Yes, they did pick locations where the locals were attempting to be ecologically attuned to the environment. I didn't find their view point all that heavy handed. They weren't trying to blame anyone, just pointing out that the locals or the developers were attempting to "fit in" with nature. Still, it does come across at times like an infomercial. That said, it would take some research to figure out how to visit the actual locations because there is no actual pitch to visit any of the places mentioned...and a few might take some doing to even figure out what resort they are referring to (for example...the Indonesia segment).I was actually hoping for more info about the local coral reefs and/or near shore ocean environment than this video provided. As I said, it's difficult to cover all that much on one disc when considering 5 different locales. As a result, the coverage is pretty lean and shallow. That said, each of the 5 segments were well done from the point of view of camera work and editing.

Disappointed
Green Paradise - The Pacific -The Blue IslandsAustralia-People are using tourism to conserve a small area on the coast of Australia.French Polynesia: People are using tourism to conserve a small area.Fiji: People are using tourism to conserve a small area.Philippines: People are using tourism to conserve a small area.Indonesia: People are using tourism to conserve a small area. The photography and scenery are beautiful. About 25 minutes is devoted to each area. The DVD is too heavy-handed on conservation. Please note that in each instance tourism is the vehicle used for conservation. This could also be an advertisement for their establishments.Sorry, I won't buy another in this series, simply because I don't care for advertisements.I do wish that better descriptions were offered, both in the Amazon description and on the DVD cover.

Commercial vacation spots not documentary
Got green? Noooooo mostly interviews and hotels and winery's very little green. Some segments are well done others are choppy with poor photography. Little splashes of paradise between the hotels and resorts .......Nothing like the cover shot. Very disappointed .
