Excellent design
Although the instructions advise this isn't to be used by people over 65, I don't know why anyone under 65 would prefer it to a bike. I'm glad I ignored that advice, because at 85 I decided to give up my bike and get something with 3 wheels. The TopMate has more features than I expected. I'm not getting the exercise the bike gave me but I'm having a lot more fun. I've lived in my neighborhood for nine years and am amazed at how much is here that I had never explored. My favorite feature is the three settings (They call gears.) with maximum speeds respectively of 3, 7, and 14 mph. You can always go more slowly in any of those gears, and most of the time I'm in the middle one. But if I'm in a store I want to be sure I don't accidentally accelerate above walking speed. And, although 14 mph on this little vehicle could feel scary, if I'm on a long straightaway on a bike path, it's great to go that fast. The reviews here were more informative than the manual (which the company agreed to send me before I bought it). I'm not sure why some reviewers found the seat uncomfortable unless they spent the whole day on the scooter. It's pretty much like any bike seat, perhaps a little more padded.I was surprised at the goodies that were included that their web site showed as extras you would have to buy. The fabric basket is about the size of a typical bike basket, although of a different design. The combination bell and light are a terrific unit, but not designed for this product. Its clamp is much too big, so the device turns upside down. It comes with rubber linings designed to go between the clamp and the handlebar, but the linings are too thin. It was easy to add some padding, using velcro strips with adhesive backing to pad it enough to stay fixed. There is also a full set of Allen wrenches.Although it doesn't look at all like a handicap scooter it can be used in stores the same way a scooter can. The battery charge lasts longer than I am ever likely to be riding on it.The manual is almost useless. The pictures are too small to figure out what part of the bike is being referred to, but I printed out the page with the pictures from the pdf the company sent me. That was still small but twice the size of the manual photos. I finally realized that the few things that had to be done to set it up were done more easily by figuring it out (and I'm not mechanical) than by trying to decipher the instructions. I had a few questions and the company responded to my email the next day.The brake lever would operate more easily if my hand were larger or the lever closer to the handlebar. All the other dimensions work just fine for me. I'm 5'3". I've had it for just a week and sorry winter is coming on. At least there are no storage problems. It's not as compact when folded as I expected, but it is much better than any other similar scooter (or trike) I've seen. And it cost a lot less. Added after more experience. It fits easily in the trunk. I see this model may have been discontinued, and they are now selling the 32. The major differences seems to be the pneumatic tires, which I guess give it a softer ride. I like the solid tires because they require no maintenance or replacement. Because of spinal stenosis I can't walk or stand for long before getting a backache, so I can now walk with friends and set the speed to their pace. Someone said there is no clamp holding it closed. I use a bungee cord. Another useful accessory that can be attached is a phone holder, so you can navigate.

Great Trike but there's some things you should know!
My brother and I both bought ES30's. We go to SEMA and to car shows all the time. We're in our 60's are find the walking all day to be pretty tough. We used to rent mobility scooters at these events but that got very expensive. This past year at SEMA we saw a couple riding a pair of ES30 trikes (scooters). After returning home we researched them and then bought 2 of them. We really like them! Following are our observations: 1. It took a little practice to get used to them. Sitting this high on a 3-wheeled vehicle is a very different feeling than riding a 2-wheeler or sitting low on a 3-wheeler. Also, the frames are a little flexible which means you have to balance them somewhat on uneven sidewalks or roads. Also, don't go too fast on turns - you might flip it over! On flat floors like inside convention centers, they're very stable. One thing we learned... the rear tires are pneumatic and are nearly flat (about 10psi) when shipped. If you ride it that way, the trike is very unstable and even a little scary. Once we aired up the tires to the recommended 36psi, they became much more stable! 2. The seat it comes with is terrible - very uncomfortable! The longer you're on it, the more painful it becomes. We experimented with a lot of different seats. We discovered that the best seat for the money was a $20 seat made by Schwinn and sold by Walmart. The seat number is: SW79889-2 and it's called a Schwinn Cruise Noseless Saddle. What a difference. In addition, it even made the trike more stable on uneven roads and sidewalks too! 3. The brake on both trikes was barely barely adequate, at first. After riding for a while, the brakes on both trikes became ineffective. We discovered the adjustment screw had come loose. We re-adjusted them and now they work very well. 4. Nowhere in the instructions or on the internet does it show how to unlock the trike from the folded position so that it can be unfolded. The front fender has a little tab at the back of it that latches into the frame when the trike is folded. Just reach your finger in through one of the holes near the bottom of the frame and push lightly on the tab at the rear of the front fender and it will easily release and allow you to unfold the trike. Beyond that, these trikes fold and unfold instantly - easy peasy! It's very easy to fold them up and pull them behind you to go up and down stairs and escalators. 5. The trikes go a long time on a single charge. Also, unlike commercial rental scooters, they don't seem to lose power as the battery goes down... not until the battery is nearly dead. 6. These trikes have a 3 position switch that controls how much power can be applied to the front-wheel-drive motor. Position 1 is the lowest power setting. On it, you can virtually run on a flat, smooth surface pretty much all day without recharging. This is perfect for Conventions, Car Shows, Flea Markets, etc. Position 2 is good for moving from one building to the next at greater speed, but it uses more juice. Position 3, well, position 3 is just for fun, and it'll suck that battery down much faster! Also, in an power setting, it doesn't take much to spin the front tire. Just lean forward to shift your weight over the front wheel when more traction is require, like when going up handicap ramps, etc. Also, avoid grass and bumpy terrain. These things will go about 21-22 KPH, but really, you'd better be on a good flat surface if you're gonna go that fast! Remember... you have a high center of gravity and a somewhat flexible frame. We love these trikes. So far we've not had any trouble taking them into conventions... even conventions that ban 2-wheeled scooters and hoverboards. The ES30's move in and out of traffic (Pedestrians) easily and you sit high enough to see what's going on around you. In summary, if you have serious physical limitations, balance issues, or are unusually tall or heavy, this trike may not be for you, but if you just have difficulty with endurance and walking long distances without pain, then this trike may be just the ticket to a more pleasant convention/car show/flea market experience!

WORKED SO WELL!!
This scooter is absolutely AMAZING!! Took it to Memorial Stadium for the Husker game! What a life saver it was!! It went up the small inclines without skipping a beat! It couldn’t make it up the stadium ramps (I knew they were too steep), but my husband pushed me up! The scooter folds like a stroller & was small enough to put between my legs in the stadium!! We all know how limited you are at a football game!! I’m 5ft 9 & weigh 180lbs. I can’t count all the compliments I received on this sharp scooter! If u need assistance getting around... this scooter is for u!

So far, I love it
I purchased this to help me move through airports and up inclines. I have serious respiratory issues and have little stamina. After trying it out around home to get used to it, I like it overall.Pros:The three speed settings. Helps avoid "jackrabbit" starts.Key start, so that it can be taken on planes.Cons:Not for those with any balance issues.A little more difficult to fold than I'd anticipated. This is not a device that can be taken shopping, even though it came with a cute little tartan basket that attaches to the handlebars. Well, maybe if you were going to buy ONE thing. Also, it is NOT for going through mud, and bogs down in grass that is not absolutely dry (and short). But for paved surfaces, it is perfect. No more waiting for wheelchair service at airports for me!
