With a little work it’s fine.

I mounted this product on a Girsan MC-P35 hi power. It was very easy to install and I like the grip. I was worried that it would look cheap but it looks really good and dresses up the gun. It fits tightly and provides a durable, functional bottom rail to mount a light or lazer. But… the gun could not be field stripped without removing the cover. With a little trimming it is now functional. I would give it 5 stars if it were functional without having to work on it.I would suggest that the seller remedy this issue. Otherwise, it’s an easy fix.

Great product for EAA Girsan MCP35

Attached with no issues, allowed easy and accurate attachment of lasers (under-barrel) with no navigation issues. Took less than 5min to field strip and assemble with. 9.5/10 would recommend.

I Cannot Recommend

So I bought the Recover Tactical rail for my RIA 1911 and it worked. This one does not.Like the 1911, the Hipower has been made by multiple companies across the world. I have a cast frame FN made in Portugal. FN has at least two different frame styles (forged and cast) and manufactured the gun in both Belgium and Portugal. FM made them in Argentina. FEG made them in Hungary. Tisas makes them in Turkey now. Then there are guns like the Arcus and Israeli Kareen that are internally hipowers, but externally are something else. I honestly don't think these grips would fit them, nor should owners really expect them to. My point with this is that there is variation in hipower construction and you need to expect some fitting to get these sorts of things to work. I had to do that with my 1911 recover unit and if I was to continue to use this, I'd have to do it with the HPC.The Good:The grips are comfortable and fit relatively well. That can be difficult with hipower grips as the single screw and dovetail mounting method can cause problems for some grip manufacturers. I had no problem shooting the gun at the range. My gun remained just as accurate and I had no problems with failures to feed or eject. Likewise the slide release and safety levers had plenty of clearance for reliable use. The grips gave good purchase for my hands although they were a bit slim for my liking. Lots of people love slim grips on hipowers, but I find them make the hipower grip a bit small for me.I was able to mount a weapon light and, the despite the built up area around the trigger guard, I still had sufficient clearance for the protruding switches that extend around the sides of the trigger guard. I could cause problems by overtightening one of the screws, but it wasn't important. The Bad:I don't think the picatinny rails are actually to spec. While I was able to mount the light, it was noticeably more difficult than on my other guns because the rail seems to be slightly too wide. I had to be very careful to make sure the light was engaged and locked down properly. But the range of adjustment on my light's mount was able to handle it.Portions of the grips near the safety levers did not sit flush with the frame at all. So dirt, grime, etc would easily enter there during shooting and then be held against the frame by the grip. Not a good idea considering most hipower frames are carbon steel. The fit on the front of the gun was loose enough that the rail section could move up and down on the frame by a visible amount. It was enough that an aiming laser would never retain a good zero. I think I could fix this by tightening up the fit around the trigger guard. The deal breaker was that I could not field strip the gun with the grips on it. You field strip a hipower by locking the slide back on the disassembly notch, pulling the slide release/base pin, and then pushing the slide forward off the frame. The relatively tight fit of the plastic dust cover means that you can't push the slide off the front of the frame. I managed to loosen the grips and get the slide off, but I had to remove them entirely to get the slide back on. The reason for this is that the slide on my hipower (and I wager most hipowers) widens where it meets the steel dust cover on the pistol frame. The polymer extended dustcover doesn't have enough clearance for this wider portion of the slide to pass through either going on or coming off. I don't want to have to remove the grip to clean the gun because I will lose some of the little nuts and screws eventually if I have to do that.I may make some modifications to these myself to see if I can get them to work. I can cut away (or reshape) some of the excess material by the safety levers that acts as a dirty funnel. I will likely remove most of the plastic extended dust cover and add clearance to the internal geometry so that I can field strip the gun. I can probably fix the wobble just by spot heating the polymer trigger guard with a heat gun and giving it a good squeeze to fit the steel trigger guard better.Given the issues with field stripping the gun, I can't recommend these. Recover Tactical should really go back to the drawing board on these grips because I think a better design would really sell. The hipower is the classic military pistol of the post war period. Lots of people have them and lots of people would love to have an upgrade that allows the use of modern accessories with this wonderful old gun.

Go ahead give it a try....

I saw a few bad reviews, but figured for the money I'd give it a try. Gotta say, best 30 bucks I've ever spent! Everything fits great!!! All the mating surfaces are true, and smooth. This thing is tight, solid. I'm very happy, and would highly recommend to anyone with a real BHP.
