Pimoroni Pan – Tilt Hat – Pan – Tilt Kit for Raspberry Pi Camera

I have come to expect quality parts from Pimoroni and this device is no exception. I have however, spent a lot of time trying to get everything properly assembled. This included adding some standoff to keep the camera HAT away form the Pi main board - a possibility mentioned in the documentation.Since I am putting this on a Pi 4B, which tends to run hot, I decided to use a fan HAT from another kit I had available. One of the nuts holding the actual fan to its board still barely cleared the second-largest of three mainboard heatsinks. Having done this, I then needed to provide space for the exhaust from the fan to go which I did with relatively long standoffs. Still wasn't quite there. The camera HAT wants a GPIO connection while the fan just needs +5 v. Standoff was still a problem, too. Fortunately the fan HAT has adequate opening to bring a camera cable and GPIO pins through and the camera HAT has a connector for optional lights that has a +5 v pin. So pulled the fan into the bottom of the camera and installed a GPIO extender with extra long wires to connect to the camera HAT. This necessitated an addition of small standoffs on top of that already installed to get everything connected a level.I was starting to get excited now as I began to tighten up that last set of standoffs when, as you may have guessed, I pulled the camera ribbon cable off the mainboard and decided to take a break from this.To summarize:1. I like this product. It comes basically assembled so you just need to make room and hook up the wires (ha!)2. You will probably need standoffs even just using the parts in this kit (i.e, no fan in-between).3. The camera ribbon cable that comes with the "official" Raspberry v 2.1 camera is just a smidge to short. I would recommend something about 5 cm longer - don't want to long either.4. Seems like a lot of people complain about the software available for download. Haven't gotten that far so no opinion.Have fun.
