Taoist Shaman: Practices from the Wheel of Life

he author brings this book a very easy language to understand. Some concepts of the Five Elements, for example, are defined and explained better than in many other books on acupuncture. It is an excellent book for those who have little knowledge of Taoism. It is rich in graphics and that should have read long ago.

This is a good book for some in depth information. However, for all the hype my friends made about the book I expected more. Still a good read.

learning something from this book; mantak chia seems to be coauthoring books with other students; so stuff that was not clear from mantak by himself; now is becoming clearer; ask me what is clearer? can't say; each one will have to find out for him/her self.

I was looking forward to another book by Mantak Chia on Taoism, but I am rather disappointed by this effort. The book has some good points early on, but this is more a book about shamanism than it is about Taoist shamanism.The books co-author has a long, dull, and largely irrelevant (to my thinking anyway) section of the book.The book reads to me as if someone researched the material and then cut and pasted it in.To me, this is a book someone phoned in. It does not diminish Chia's other books, however.

This title explains the principles of Taoist medicine: it's origination, how it relates to the Chinese Zodiac, the I Ching, and the possibility of alignment with the pakua. For those who are unfamiliar with one or more of these terms, this is the title to pick up. Chia and North and Universal Healing tackle the topic and/or topics thoroughly and understandingly. It was an OK read, but I like a lot of his other books much more than this.

Excellent book, explains several techniques that will be familiar to those already initiated in the use of the I Ching, medicine wheels, Taoist meditation, shamanic practices and Chinese 5 element healing. Very pleased.
