I wanted a hoak to cook in my wok with, but as I use a 12" wok, I didn't want a restaurant-size 16 or 17" one, which would be too bulky and cumbersome. This fits my needs just fine. About 12" long. The bowl is nice and big, big enough to perfectly fit the curvature of a grapefruit. Great for the fast, efficient single utensil style of cooking – no chuan/spatula – that many Chinese restaurant cooks favor. Angle of the handle is a little steep, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. If I do decide I want it at a shallower angle, it's fairly easy to bend the handle by hand. Good weight. Sturdy without being heavy. The hanging loop is nice, making it easy to hang up without having to fuss with the small holes in the handles of other utensils. I like how my index finger fits right into the hollow on the back of the shank. When I need to break up ingredients in the wok, I can apply pressure without worrying about my finger slipping off the shank.The only complaint I have is that the handle is pressed on, so there's a small gap where it meets the shank. Makes it a little harder to keep clean.

This is very handy in the kitchen , especially for soup and all liquidy food. I love this and it has made life easier.

I bought this for skimming the foam off of homemade stock. It's an elegantly simple tool that is easy to clean. It would also work well for skimming fat off of soup or stock. Unlike typical soup ladles, this is flat and shallow so it scoops along the surface.It's a useful spoon to have if you like making your own stocks, broths and soups.

I loved it. Then I ruined it by using it to scoop paint from the can to the little tray I was using. Waited too long to clean it but will definitely be buying another...and use it for its intended use, not a paint scoop.
