18" x 24" Blue & Green Cutting Mat for Sewing, Quilting, Arts & Crafts

I am not a quilter, I work a fire investigator. I use this mat when I take close up photographs of evidence I have collected from fires. The blue colored back ground works perfectly for most of the items I photograph, but the main reason I purchased it was because of the measurement scales that are imprinted on it. Prior to purchasing this item I would use a blue cloth as a background for my evidence photographs and would then have to add a photo scale (ruler). The mat is very heavy duty and easily wipes clean when I am done. A Great Product !!! I am now looking for one in a larger size.

This is the 4th cutting mat I've had, and it will be the one I buy from now on. It's truly self healing, but lightweight so it's fairly portable in terms of ability to move it without assist or risk of pulling something. I would have liked one a little larger since I use it on my cutting table for making quilts (hint hint Quilting Bee) : )Another feature I love is how clear the markings are, and unlike most mats, this has the same number at both ends of the mat, so if you're at 4 at the bottom you're also at 4 at the top. Makes it much easier to see if you have moved the ruler at all. Not sure what else is relevant, but I highly recommend this mat with no hesitation.

This is a very well made mat. Sturdy yet flexible, I needed a smaller mat to add to my larger one and this one is so much better. Perfectly self healing. Of course, how long it lasts will be a factor, but I just spent two days cutting out pieces for a full size quilt, and the cuts were clean and effortless, and I also noticed that my fabrics stayed in place better than other mats I have used. With a 10 year guarantee, i don't think I have to worry about it lasting!

This truly is self healing, unlike many of the others that say they are but retain cuts and threads. I've been using it for about a week. It's thick and pretty. It stinks a bit when you first get it, so allow it to air out before you have to use it. I'll come back in a couple of months and let you know if it holds up if I'm able to edit my review.

Item appears durable and looks as described. Have not put knife or cut marks on it yet to see if it self heals. It does clearly show the words, quilting bee on one side in the corner, and for a man to have to look at that in his workshop is plain wrong. Bought it to cut peel and stick tile I've yet to buy.

I got this mat originally to use to cut polymer clay without ruining my Work N Bake mat. While this does the job there are only two things I don't like about this mat. One is that the paint seems to come off rather easy, It stuck to my clay when cutting, while this is not meant for clay I feel that if it is meant to be cut on then the markings should stand up to cutting utensils. The other problem is this mat takes a long while to air out. When I received it, the mat smelled like a combination of body odor and onion. I could not get the smell off with washing or Febreeze, my cousin suggested white vinegar, but I didn't try it as it does not smell like that anymore. Overall, good mat for the price.

This was NOT a healing mat. I got blue or green slivers in my fingers of the tiny pieces that my rotary cutter cut out of the mat. My first mat of a different and better brand last me 10 years, but this one didn't even last 10 months!!! I contacted both Amazon and the Quilting Bee company and neither one answered my message. DO NOT BUY THIS MAT!!!

There are two reasons I'm only giving this mat 4 stars, instead of 5. First, from the very first time I cut on the mat, the yellow paint that forms the lines began to smear. I've attached a photo to show this. It's happened more over time, until there are numerous places on the mat where the paint has smeared. The paint doesn't come off on anything, so I have no explanation for the phenomenon. Second, the mat is just a bit soft - softer than an Olfa mat, for instance. This softness causes the mat to cling to certain fibers, in particular batting fibers. After I cut batting on the mat, I have to spend several minutes using a mat smoother or nylon scrubby to get the batting fibers out of the mat. I noticed the softness right away, because when I'm only cutting a single layer of fabric, I can actually feel my rotary blade sinking into the mat. Despite these two negatives, I would buy the mat again. Being two-sided, it's an excellent value for the price, and other than the problems discussed above, it works perfectly. It arrived in a large, flat box, and although the box itself was damaged, the mat was fine - no warping or other damage.
