Used with Polychromos pencils, these work well... if you can get past some fitting issues.
I bought these extenders to use with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils, but didn't realize going in is that they are a slightly to small for some of the pencils. As a result, fitting them stripped at least some paint off of the pencil barrels. The loss of paint was barely noticeable with some pencils, while others were stripped down to reveal the wood underneath. One pencil (cadmium orange #9201-111, not shown) was stripped almost bare of paint. As I shuffled the pencils around, I realized that the problem isn't just with the pencil extenders, but also with slight inconsistencies in the barrel diameter of different pencils within the same line. I would expect slight variances with different colors in other pencil lines, as well. That can make fit tricky when the extenders are on the smaller side, which these are.I should also note that while these extenders do work (albeit snugly) with Polychromos pencils that have a 3.8mm core, I have a set of Derwent Drawing colored pencils with a 4mm core that these extenders most certainly do not fit. Depending on the pencils you use, the fit may or may not be suitable! I will need to look elsewhere for extenders that work with pencils that have a 4mm core, since these definitely won't.These fitting issues could be solved by increasing the size of the barrel and cap to accommodate a few additional mm of pencil diameter. And, fit is my main issue with these extenders, because they otherwise do work well. They grip the pencil securely, feel fairly light in the hand and are easy to hold. I don't find them uncomfortable to use. They are also quite nice looking and the different colors makes identifying the pencil you're looking for quick and easy. That said, one of the six extenders that I received (the orange one) had a slight defect right below the threads, along the edge of the barrel, that is slightly visible in the paint finish even when the cap is fully in place. It is also more difficult to get the cap onto this holder, especially once a pencil is seated into it.I saw another comment about not being able to remove short pencils to sharpen them. With a snug fitting pencil, getting them in and out is more of a challenge. That said, pencils don't have to be removed to be sharpened in most manual sharpeners and I actually find stubby pencils easier to sharpen when I have the extender handle to hold onto them. Trying to turn a very short pencil in a sharpener is a chore in and of itself and to me, this actually makes it easier. Your experiences may vary.I have attached a photo of these extenders fitted with some of my Polychromos pencils to show both how the extenders look and the condition of the pencils after being inserted into them. You can see from the photo that the amount of paint removed from the pencil barrels varies from one to the next, but in all cases is at least slightly noticeable. I would have given these pencil extenders 3 1/2 stars, deducting 1 star due to fit and 1/2 star due to the defective holder in my set, but that isn't an option. I am giving them 4 stars with the assumption that the defect in the holder I received is not a common problem. While I would prefer to use holders that do not strip the paint off of my pencils, I will definitely consider buying these again if I am unable to find a set of extenders that offer a better fit. To me, being able to get the greatest amount of use out of the pencils I most often use outweighs losing paint off of their barrels. However, I would really like to see these made slightly larger, to not just fit these pencils better, but to better accommodate pencils from other brands that have a thicker core or barrel, in general.** If you found this review helpful, please click below to let me know. Perfect
I use Prismacolor Premier coloring pencils. As expensive as these pencils are the thought of wasting the last two or three inches of pencils was nerve=wracking. The fact that I can now use these pencils to the nubs with these pencil extenders is fantastic. I just got them yesterday and am in love with them already. I've already ordered a second set.

Perfect for Prismacolor Premier pencils.
Ok, I work exclusively with Prismacolor Premier pencils. When a pencil gets to below 5 inches in length I find it quite difficult to draw a smooth color fade. These extenders eliminate this problem. The body is hollow so I can work a pencil another three plus inches. At two bucks a pencil I get better value for my money. I purchased the six pack to start. I generally only layer 4 to 6 colors on top of each other. Sometimes more. It doesn't happen very often that all the pencils go below 5 inches at the same time, so 6 extenders should do for right now. Then again, at under $8 a set, I might purchase another set just because. For those who's extenders came damaged, return them. All extenders are not manufactured improperly. Also, like anything that is threaded, use care when screwing the components back together. Don't be a gorilla and over torque the components either.

Doesn't fit most pencils.
Sadly, I just tried one of these extenders. I originally got them as gifts to give to others but needed one real quick so grabbed it up. As you can see in the photos, the extenders do not fit most pencils. Infact, I have only pencil it does fit is those without a cap or eraser. This is very few pencils. I have bought another extender through amazon, same type but different design, and it fits all my pencils including my colored pencils (which this is also not fitting). Sadly, this is past the 30 day refund.Only way to sort of make this work is to fully take off the piece and then insert the pencil into the extender and then slide the other piece over the pencil. If your pencil is long enough you are okay but if your pencil is a stub that needs to be moved out every once in a while for sharpening, well, you are pretty screwed. There is a better product for the same price and I have been using it for months now with no issue.
