Good Sh*t, Tough Sh*t

After spending my second month being functionally homeless, living somewhere between a series of guest rooms and my car, I splurged on a last minute trip back home to smoosh my neice's face. I was casually sipping my airport margarita and passing through the bookstore, when I made eye contact with "Get Your Sh*t Together" for the first time.My first reaction was to yell "don't tell me what to do!" and clutch my boozy sippy cup to my chest. But the subtitle won me over. I *do* kinda wanna do stuff...I read the first 100 pages before I got to my parents' house. That sh*t sounded easy. I have that sh*t together. I love my job, my emails are brief, I know how long it takes me to shower and shave (8-12 minutes, depending on my vertical cut-off point). That night, I tore into the tough sh*t. And let me tell you, it is some tough sh*t. Money? Relationships? Achk. DONT MAKE ME DO THIS, SARAH. But I kept reading. Because, c'mon. You spent $20 dollars on this thing. It's just a book. Who raised you?So I stayed up until about 3:00 am. Most of that spent reading, but at least an hour spent staring at the ceiling fan and thinking about page 160.I finished the book on my flight back to my current "home" this morning. Between the time spent with my family and reading this book, this weekend has been life changing. I am going into the next few weeks knowing that I can get sh*t done, as long as I break it down into manageable pieces. Step, by step. Moving toward what's best for me, so I can finally get my sh*t together.-Alvin (with a strong Simon rising)

Another hit from the author of last year's best self help parody

Another hit from the author of last year's best self help parody. Whether you want a light read full of hilarious insights, or actually need a kick in the ass to get your "life" together, this book has what you're looking for. This is the type of book that you buy someone as a gag gift, and then read and keep for yourself because it was more honest and insightful than you ever expected. Highly recommend to the well-put-together and deviant alike.

Total Sh*t

I bought this because of the reviews. I got about half way through it hoping I would glean some good information. I can't say it opened my mind to anything in particular. Every other word was "sh*t" It wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest if there were actual good ideas or instruction. I think the high ratings are from people who are impressed with the language since there was no actual content other than babble. The book was complete SH*T.

Helpful!

I went through a very tough time about a year ago when my spouse had a major heart attack and emergency open heart surgery. I had read this book some time prior to all of this and jumped into action of canceling unneeded expenses days after his surgery. All of the things I learned from the book helped me financially make it through the 3 months of of living on only my income.

Excellent - Fun & Helpful

This book is a great resource for people who aren't quite in need of mental health care but still need a little life support. Easy to read. Humorous and helpful. Recommended to purchase the journal to help you stay on task and get more from the book!

Ehhh , try another book

Okay, I get where the author was going with the book. I think it was lighthearted and helped with not taking everything too seriously but serious enough. I just think it needed some substance , something more than tips I could find online. I really had higher expectations for this book but I don't think it was worth it for me to buy.

As a college graduate sometimes you need a little extra help down your career line and lifeline this book did the trick

This book is just what I needed to hear being a professional college graduate sometimes life can get confusing and you need a little guidance and this book was the perfect little voice in my ear and the part about savings and how simple it is to really put money back for your retirement and the formulas that were presented impressed me

Good but why is there a British edition

I am halfway through this book and think it's great but why have the editors subbed in jarring 'British translations in the UK edition? Patronising and unnecessary. For example a section on mailing a parcel to Grandma in a timely fashion so you don't have to pay 32 dollars then randomly mentions Royal Mail and the post office. These British substitutions happens throughout what is otherwise a very American book. I found it really annoying and distracting - like a badly dubbed film.

Waste of money

Excessive swearing. She basically reinstated everything you know about life. Pointless

Mixed feelings

I'm on page 70 and I am slowly getting enough of this book... I'm simply tired of the language, chaotic formatting, excessive swearing and all those chipmunks example is simply not needed. On the other hand, the topic is interesting and I like the point of view of the author. I don't know how much longer I'm going to last with it...

Getting my shit together

This book has been thoroughly enjoyable with no BS but a direct, real and down-to-earth approach on sorting your life out and getting things done. It’s never easy to get started when the journey ahead seems long, daunting and sometimes impossible. Chunking is my big take away from this book and I shall be doing what I know already which is getting things done.

No quarter given!

Excellent book, cuts you no slack, calls you out on excuses for inefficient actionI like that this book calls every bluff you might attempt on the basis of a NFG approach to getting that stuff together. And it's ridiculously straightforward in bringing things down to weaponising your phone, your wallet, and your keys in pursuit of simplifying your life (metaphorically speaking, naturally).Keep this stuff coming!
