Kova Gear Car Soft Roof Rack Luggage Carrier, 2 Rack Pieces with Adjustable and Heavy-Duty Straps

These are great for practical use. I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The package for my Jeep doesn’t have regular crossbars so instead of $400 going to Tule, I bought one set of these. One set works great for 5 snowboards! It also works perfect for 1 kayak! I have two sets now, so 4 Kova pads total (2 in a set) and I can position both now to fit 2 kayaks across my roof. I am in love with these. Cannot reccommend them enough!

I bought this back in March when we bought our kayaks.... I was so excited about a simple set up for my Chevy Spark and this was perfect. We used it to load the 2 kayaks up and take them home one at a time. Today I finally had the chance to go out on my own and set them up for only the 2nd time and the whole strap snapped off the pad! I'm so upset. I can't seem to find any way to contact the company and of course the return time has expired. I would not buy this again.

Used this for carrying my kayak on my golf cart. Works well but would prefer if it had a ridge on the edge or a dip in the middle to proven lateral sliding.

I received this product within two days and have used it and it is awesome! I have a Toyota Matrix and do not want to invest in a roof rack when I may upgrade cars in the next year or two. I had been using the foam block type roof rack and it works fine but I love how this type has the easy straps that hold the pads in place so they do not slide around when you put your kayak on and they look pretty cool when on my car.Thank you for the great product at a great price.

So, this item arrived today and I was quite excited, as this is exactly the type of product I was looking for to avoid scratching my car when putting my canoe or kayak on top of it.I really did t want to spend $500+ on a roof rack and this seemed like an awesome alternative.THE GOOD: the build quality appears to be excellent. Dense, thick foam that seems like it will still add great protection even with a heavy canoe on top of it. The cloth seems very thick and like it won’t rip or tear. The buckles appear to very well attached and they are metal which is a huge plus!THE BAD: this is tiny! It is clearly my fault for not reading the measurements ahead of time, but I’m not sure this would even span the roof of a Mini! I have an Acura TL and this is not even close to spanning my entire roof. Furthermore, it’s not even as wide as my kayak or canoe, thus neither of them would actually be resting on these pads if I even installed them. It looks like I need a minimum of 48” and these are only about 33”. These will work well for a thin kayak or surf/paddle board, but not a wide-base ocean kayak or normal-sized canoe.What really deceived me was the diagram they show if the photos of the pads spanning the roof of what looks to be a Honda Element-type suv. I figured, if it will span the roof of that car, it will definitely span the roof of mine. Clearly, that diagram is absolutely not drawn to scale.Again, the build quality seems great, but the length is way too short and the pictures are deceiving.

GREAT for small cars! I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze, and this is the perfect product for my car and my kayak. I am a 5'6" woman, and this is very easy to put on the car, and holds the pads steady so that when I put my kayak up on my roof, they don't slide around. I haven't taken it on freeways yet, but was sturdy enough to drive up to at least 55 mph with a 40 lb kayak on the roof, no problems.

While this may be a decent product for those of us who don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a rack for a car, ours arrived damaged. In fact, based on the packaging, it seems someone else had returned it and it was simply sent off to us with the strap and buckle torn off. Very disappointing quality control.

BEWARE - these are only 24 inches across... The roof of a compact car is about 45 inches wide. If you've a canoe or open watercraft that is more than 24 inches across at the points where it will meet the rack on your roof, these racks will be useless.
