Pumps Away Giant Superior 800 GPH Winter Swimming Pool Cover Pump Above Ground or Inground Pools 1/4 HP Horsepower and Extra Large 7 inch Stabilization Base

For the price this pump definitely catches the eye BUT the product description omits some key details. This pump is not automatic... that is to say, as the water rises it will not pump unless you turn it on. To turn it on, you have to plug it in. Second, on opening the box, next discovery is the piece of literature that says not to leave the pump on the pool cover in colder [freezing] weather, as it voids the warranty... it also cracks some interior parts. Net: if you like to travel and live in Maryland, whose going to pump the water while you're on vacation; how do you pump it off in the winter? You can't. This might be the perfect pump for your application but not ours. The manufacturer ought to be more up-front with their description as I'd of never ordered it. Tho untouched, it looks like I'm liable for return shipping costs.

I needed an easy way to empty clean dechlorinated water from a clean plastic garbage can to refill my 220 gallon aquarium when doing a water change (rather than filling pails, and one by one emptying them above my shoulders into the tank). This size was perfect. It doesn't fill so fast as to disrupt all the plants in the tank, but yet fast enough so that I don't sit there all day waiting for it to drain the water from the garbage can. It does a 35 gallon garbage can in about 2-1/2 minutes - which was perfect. I usually have two garbage cans to empty, so now it takes 5 minutes for a 70 gallon water change. It would take a lot of work and an hour to do it the other way. I highly recommend this.

I wasn't sure about purchasing a cheaper model pool cover pump, but this thing has been running like a champ for three seasons now. The cord is plenty long to reach to the middle of my pool which is 28' round. It doesn't take long with the rain in north MS to fill the pool up to the coping which I found out pretty fast the first year. It sits fine on my safety cover and debris doesn't get caught up in it. Probably the best feature is that after about ten minutes of running the pump, I can unplug it and the siphon action continues to drain water off the cover without wasting any additional electricity.

Ugh. I needed a pump that was reliable and hassle free. Unfortunately if there is any debris in your pool cover at all it is a major headache. The filter in the pump clogs so quickly that it consumes too much time to stop and clean it. The suction power is medium at best. And the filter cover falls off when the pump is simply tossed lightly onto the cover. I really wouldn’t recommend this pump for anyone who has any sort of debris in the cover.

This little thing is very powerful. It did it's job and more. Someone had no patience removing the pool cover this year and dumped algea in the pool. So he got the job of standing on a stool on the side of the pool with this powerful little thing and sucking the algea off of the bottom of the pool. It did really good being submerged in that much water.You have to take the bottom off and clean the filter or it stops working because it can't pull water through the leaves and things it pulls off of the pool cover.

This pump removes the water faster than any other pump we have purchased in the past. We had a lot of rain this winter so it did get a work out. It takes the water to where it is almost completely dry no other pump in the last 13 years we have had the pool did that. We also used it to drain our hot tub-it worked just a well on that. Hope it lasts for years to come, it seems well made and easy to remove any debris (leaves) that get into screen.

I used it to pump water off of my pool winter cover. It worked very well, just not very fast.

We bought this to pump out our pool cover in the spring, but I also used it to pump out our boat one time.
