Outstanding product - Saved me from towing my car.
I needed a good socket to clone a GMC 2007 Envoy Denali EEPROM 95040 chip (SOIC8) and this socket holds the chip very securely and the contacts are reliable. I duplicated 5 additional spares just for fun and this socket never missed a beat. BTW, before using these, I bought and tried the "clip on" IC clamps which are sold to clamp onto a SOIC8 that is mounted on the PC board. These clamps constantly let go, fall off, and the connections are electrically unreliable/noisy. I returned those and use these instead. It's a bit of work to swap out the chips but if you have the skills, this "ziff" holder is exactly what you need to copy/clone the EEPROM related to your car's VIN number for the Body Control Module. All good !! No towing to the dealer required anymore - not to mention saving about 500 bucks or more.

Measure the DIP pin spacing before making a PCB!
Hello All,Out of the bag, these products appear to be well made... AND, you get two of these for the cost which is a great value! Today, I went to assemble my programming/debugger adapter board and noticed that this socket adapter did not fit easily into the DIP-8 PCB footprint. Measuring the pin spacing on the adapter board, I noticed that it was NOT the common 300 mil spacing found on DIP-8 sockets. The pin spacing was 287 mils. Fortunately, I was able to carefully force the pins into my programming adapter. It would be nice if the seller could list this specification on or near the product page.Best regards,AB

You get what you pay for
These are very inexpensive and should not be used in a serious engineering environment but for occasional hobby use you can get by. The biggest problem is the legs of the IC do not always line up correctly. I typically have to nudge the IC around a bit under the microscope before releasing the clamp.

Works great with my xgecu programmer
It works well. What else is there to say? I use it with my XGecu t56 programmer, and it works. Far more convenient than soldering the chip onto a carrier.

good material
the adapters look of good quality and perfectly clamp the chip, I used one of them to program PIC12F510 mcu without any problem.

Check if you need wide or narrow first
These are great and inexpensive but make sure you need the narrow type. I need wide for my attiny85v so had to place a 2nd order.

Plastic casting not very good quality.
Lower quality than expected especially on injected plastic body. Will not last many uses as I needed.
