Disappointing
As a requiem, very disappointing. I was expecting the music to take me higher. It never did, it just languished. Death is a powerful event to grieve. My sorrow was not in any way soothed by this music.

Requiem is Sublime
MIchael Hoppe is a gift to our time. His soulful and heartfelt music reaches directly into the spaces where we live our deepest lives. This Requiem includes one of the most beautifully composed and sung pieces I have heard--Pie Jesu. The voices soar and blend, directing the music into the hurt places of us, healing them into light.

As always, can't go wrong with a Michael Hoppe album. Bought this as a little treat for myself and have enjoyed listening to it very much.

I found this to be a very relaxing CD to listen to particularly when doing some boring chores! Just love Michael Hoppe and find his music very easy to listen to. Would recommend.

Semplicemente Sublime
Non ho mai ascoltato nulla di simile, una dolcezza che non trova paragoni, una sensualità mistica inedita. Fin dall'ascolto dell'introito si resta colpiti, anzi direi folgorati dall'atmosfera rarefatta e mistica, semplice ed immediata. L'opera non prevede interventi corali, ma non se ne sente affatto la mancanza. Il Kirie è decisamente sublime, più di tanti altri. Il Lacrimosa è stupefacente anche perchè, cosa che non accade in altre composizioni dello stesso genere, è completamente svincolato da altri movimenti della sequenza che qui manca.L'Agnus dei nella duplice versione vocale e strumentale è un vero è proprio gioiello melodico, mentre il Pie Jesu più noto, è un declamato del soprano dolce e misterioso. Che dire ancora un'opera originale, unica nel suo genere, straordinaria nella sua semplicità, un vero e proprio miracolo. Non rinunziate a possedere nella vostra collezione di requiem questo disco raro e prezioso, ordinatelo subito!
