My 5 year old (then 4) saw this book/kit at our local toy store and begged for it for months. She loves all things magical like unicorns and fairies. I kept telling her it was on her birthday list and she would have to wait. When her birthday finally came around and I went to buy it from the toy store, they were sold out. Because of this I ended up buying it here from Amazon.I am so glad I did because she loves this gift and it holds her attention for long blocks of time. It is really more of a paper doll type kit then a book. It has pages and pages of beautiful little dress up details to pop out add to the horses and there are even some fairies to dress up too. It comes with a page of stickers to attach the "outfits" to the horses. I really like this because traditional paper dolls usually have those wrap around tabs which don't work to keep the outfits on and can be very frustrating to little kids. There are a few pages of "scenes" you can use to put the horses and fairies into, but my daughter doesn’t actually do that much. She just really likes to dress them up and then change their outfits. There is a page or two with suggestions of outfit combinations which is helpful.Just FYI, my daughter has excellent fine motor skills for her age and does these kinds of projects/activities a lot so taking the little stickers off the sheet and using them to attach the outfits is no problem for her... but I could see this being frustrating for kids younger than 5 or 5+ for kids who haven't done this kind of thing very often. (Although it is great practice for those who need to hone their fine motor skills).One thing I should note is that there are A LOT of little pieces to keep track of once you pop them out and the little sticker pieces do end up stuck to the furniture at times. This is something to keep in mind if you have babies and toddlers in the house. We keep everything in a zip lock and then my daughter dumps all the pieces out onto our long window seat when she wants to play it. I help her spread them out like puzzle pieces so she can see them all. It could be frustrating trying to find a piece you want if you don't have a space to spread out. She has used most of the little sticker pieces already so we have moved on to using double-sided sticky tape.

I saw this book in the lightning deals and just had to get it for my 5 year old grand daughter. Though she is more of the age for Klutz Jr., I thought it would be a fun project to do with her. Like all Klutz books, it is of the highest quality. The horses are printed on heavy weight card stock. This colors are vibrant. The horses as well as some of the dress up items are laser cut for easy punch out. The cutting is also perfectly aligned with the items, so no white edges. Items are attached with 3D foam stickers, Klutz even made the stickers in the shape of the item you would use it on, for example, a crecent for the head dresses. You decorate both sides of the horse, putting one wing on each side unless you desire otherwise. The finished horse is a beautiful, vibrant and fun There are 3 double page scenes to use for imaginative play or adhering the horse to and hanging like a poster. I could not recommend this enough.

i bought this book also, in addition to the Mermaids. a also sponsor another girl and could not send one of them something and not the other. everything was easily removable and nothing ripped. everything was so beautiful, every page was a better surprise to me, than the other. great quality of paper and i am sure it will last a long time, . i sent the envelop included to store them in. just had to remove from the book and re seal the edge. I am sure that any little girl will love this. i am old and i loved it. even as a young girl i loved paper dolls, but did not have anything this beautiful. and i had to cut them out myself. if you are thinking of purchasing this, do not hesitate. everything about it is perfect.

I bought this for my 4 year old. The quality far exceeded what I was anticipating. So much so that I had to buy two more for my older girls (7 and 9) and the dragon book for my boy (8). My older kids were insanely jealous and they have used this repeatedly over the weeks.

My daughter loves this and has had a ton of fun. Beware, however, if you are a bit of a neat freak like me. There are a lot of very small pieces in this set and they tend to get everywhere. If your daughter is a little more organized and neater than mine there is a little pocket that is built in that you can store these small pieces in. That is a nice touch! The illustrations and different wings, shoes, blankets, tails, crowns, hair things, saddles are all beautifully done. Very fun for those that like a little fantasy (just be ready for managing a bit of a mess)

I bought this for my granddaughter who is almost five. She played with these almost nonstop from 11:00 in the morning to 4:30 p.m. She really enjoyed dressing up the horses and the fairies, and there are a lot of fashion choices. And she commented several times how much she liked them. I might surprise her in a few weeks with the mermaid set.The dolls and fashions are very sturdy, and she had no trouble removing them from the pages. The book comes with pages that contain beautiful settings in which to pose the dolls.The only thing I didn't like was that the fashions are stuck on with a sturdy double sided tape that my granddaughter struggled with, so if you have a little one expect to help them initially. I also think the tape is going to get covered with grime and lose it's stick rather quickly. I consider this a minor issue though, because we can always replace it with new tape.

I bought this on a recommendation from a friend and this did not disappoint. My 8 year old daughter loved it and my 5 year old son also wanted a fairy and a horse. Luckily she shared. There are things to make 3 fairies and 6 horses. This would be a great gift for girls (or boys) age 6-10. The legs to bend easily and getting the clothes off can bend them up, so keep away from smaller kids if you don’t want them torn up.
