50 Favorite Haitian Recipes: Taste the Islands Essentials

I'm Haitian and I am glad to have a recipe book for common dishes. Unfortunately, I was not able to learn a lot of dishes the old school way by watching my mom and she will not write down the recipes for me. Obviously, each family recipe is different but most of the recipes in the book seem pretty similar to my mother's just with a few less ingredients. I do wish each recipe had a serving size for how many people it serves. I wish there was a recipe for epis as well since it is used in a lot of the recipes, along with Haitian sauce for rice and meat.

This is a lovely book with great recipes that are easy to follow. Just wish more pictures of the island for a more a truly voyage to this great island

I ended up not using it. Also many ingredients are difficult to find locally

I CANNOT get enough of this book, I have maybe 8 recipe books and I come back to this 1 constantly. Every dish I have made has been SO delicious, on top of that I've learned a new technique from this book with cooking rice that makes my rice perfect every time. Just last night i made the Haitian meatballs and my 3 yr son ate every bit of his!!!! Husband did too!!!! I have a Haitian friend and she even told me this book is VERY authentic. What a great purchase.

Recipes are on point

I am so happy for this book, since my mom pasted away since I was small I missed out on learning how to cook Haitian(m’y home) food. I am able to perfect my cooking now. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾😘😘😘

I would give this book 5 stars if all of the ingredients in the recipes were listed. There are several recipes that list ingredients in the directions but not quantities in the ingredient list. Hard to make a recipe correctly with missing ingredients. Disappointed that I paid $30 for a small paperback that is missing key items.

Not my favourite but it has great recipes.

Although the recipes are delicious, I find the book amateurish. The photos don't give the meals' justice. The book lacks information on the portions and doesn't give the recipe for the most important seasoning that appears in most of the recipes (Epis).

As soon as I've received the book and looked at it, I was so exited...this is an amazing book if you want to learn Haitian cuisine, so easy and taste so good !!! pictures and explanations are just perfect even for beginners or advanced cooker.
