Much smaller and lighter then the Pergear TH3 Pro (updated 1/9/2020)
Update 1/9/2020Well after 15 months of light use, and just outside of the one year warranty (of course), my TH4 ball head failed. The screw that tightens the ball snapped off inside the base and it fell out with a few washers and a bearing. My TH3 ball head that gets much more use is still working great, so I was wrong about the build quality and I no longer recommend this TH4 head anymore. Get the TH3 head instead.I recently purchased the Pergear TH3 Pro head and then purchased this TH4 head. Since there isn't much info out there about the differences, I thought I would do a quick comparison. The TH4 is much smaller and lighter than the TH3 but about twice the price. The TH4 does not have a bubble level on it, the plate is smaller but has strap holes on each end, the opening for the plate seems to be just a bit bigger - the TH3 is about 37mm where the TH4 is 38mm, the base has the ability to rotate but only if the main ball screw is loosened compared to the TH3 that has a separate knob for that. The small triangular knob on the TH4 is to allow rotating the plate mount, even if the ball is locked in place.Overall both of Pergear heads are great but if you need smaller and lighter, go for the TH4. It seems to have just a bit better build quality, but if you need a bubble level and don't care about the larger size and weight of the TH3, save yourself the extra money and get the TH3. I think I will keep and use both of these and we will see how they hold up over time.

Compact and well built
I bought this ball head to mount a DSLR on the declination bracket of a star tracker mount. I needed a compact head that was small and light but strong enough to securely hold the DSLR. This head appears ideal for the job. When I received it, it was even smaller than I expected and I was concerned that it would not be adequate. But, after trying out the controls and action it seems to be up to the task. The unit is well made, has no wobble, and moves smoothly. The two locks are easy to use and lock the ball securely. So far, I've had no problems with slippage or creep. I haven't had it long enough to know how well it will hold up in the long run though. The camera mounting plate is very small. So far, it doesn't slip on the camera, but I'm wondering whether it will later when the non-slip ridges are more worn down. Time will tell.Edit: I've had a chance to do additional testing with longer exposures and different right R.A. settings and have encountered two problems. Both depend on the direction the camera is pointing and the position of the dec bracket. First, there is some slippage between the camera and quick release plate even though the plate is tightened securely. Second, the torque from the offset center of mass of the camera and lens can loosen the ball head where it attaches to the declination bracket. I can't seem to be able to tighten the head against the bracket enough to prevent that. If I can't find a way to solve those issues, I'll have to get a different head for this particular application. However, I still feel this is a well built item and there is absolutely no issue when using it for normal photographic use on a tripod or monopod. I'm going to keep it and use it on a monopod.

Smaller lighter than TH3.
A friend had previously recommended the TH3. We got them both together to compare. In all physical attributes the TH4 was smaller. The lower weight was impressive. It was simpler to operate, only having 3 knobs. It does not have a bubble level. I probably will never use the camera mount pad as I have an L-bracket on my camera that directly connects to the Arca-Swiss compatible clamp on the TH4. The ball clamp works well & I did not notice any drift. Sitting on a Platypod Ultra with the right configuration I can tip my camera up 90 degrees with it. The large lever controls the ball movement. the smaller lever the panning function. The knob the Arca-Swiss clamping pressure. In a separate little plastic bag is a 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 threaded insert and what looks like some kind of simple multi-screwdriver that is probably for screwing in the insert. This makes for a light, compact camera mounting option using the Platypod Ultra. It will easily hold my Sony a7m3 w/ the 24-105 lens.

Does not hold long lens (200mm) securely
Tried this with my Sony A6000 and Canon 200 2.8L lens. A combination of less than 1.5KgFocused on target on wall, tightened as much as it would go and 10 minutes later the lens dropped by a few mm. Half and hour and it dropped a few more mm. I understand that it is a small ball head and the length of the lens would be an issue, but I thought that it should have at least held up this considering stated limit of 10kg.No issues when using a 50mm or wide angle lens, so I am keeping it for that use and to use with my action cam. I purchased a larger ball head for when using long lenses.

Works great for D750 with large-aperture prime lenses
The Pergear TH4 ballhead is an amazing piece of kit regardless of the price. Add in the fact that it's tiny and priced at budget levels and it becomes a no-brainer. In order to test its holding power I set it up with a Nikon D750 and Sigma 14 mm f/1.8 Art lens (a large, heavy lens) tlited to the side and back around 20 degrees then let it sit for two days. Photos taken at the start of the first day and end of the second day showed no discernible change in position, so it held steady for 48 hours with a typical Pro DSLR load. The big question, of course, is its durability. I use mostly Oben ballheads and replace them about once a year. I also use a Manfrotto ballhead that is still in good shape after about two years (I do mostly landscape timelapse, so my ballheads see some severe conditions). However, even if the Pergear has to be replaced two or three times more often it's still the better option because the cost comes out about the same and it's a fraction of the size/weight.

Perfect compact ball head
I was looking for a small low profile ball head to fit on my new Gorillapod 3k. So glad I bought this! It really is much smaller than most other tripod heads, so it fits perfectly the size of the Gorillapod, it's very light, full metal, has a premium feel and is perfect for travelling. Still has the full functionality of bigger heads, with one lever to lock/release that's simple to operate, and a smaller lever for panning. In fact the pan motion is better than most tripods, since it's on top of the ball head, which means the camera stays level during the pan even after the ball head is adjusted. It's worth the little extra compared to other (bigger) ball heads from the likes of Neewer or Andoer if you are after a smaller, lighter, but fully functional head. All in all, highly recommended!

Jewel like-One Caveat
I like the overall finish and simplicity of this tiny ball-head. It will be great for travel and occasional use.The top plate is a match to my usual Arca style camera plate, which is integrated into the accessory handgrip on my camera.A teardrop shaped lever controls panning the top plate, but it has a simple pointed tip that digs into the shaft. Unfortunately, the pressure needed to secure the panning action creates detents on this hidden shaft. The result of only a few uses causes multiple detents at random degrees of its' rotation making panning notchy unless the screw is unwound. This would have been better without the tip being pointed, as this would have created less damage to the internal shaft. For the price I paid it is a compromise; primarily jewel like quality and a cost limit. This limit is this single screw not being thought through. I will probably disable the pan feature with a hex head SS cap screw of the exact length needed and some thread locker.Problem and complexity solved for $0.10.
