It worked!
We were hoping that our daughter's thumb sucking habit would go away on its own. Constant reminders to "stop" and attempts to distract her from sucking her thumb had little effect on this highly addictive habit and it resulted in her two upper central incisors to shift outward. We decided to try this item on our daughter's 2nd birthday. IIt was fairly difficult to get Dr. thumb on my daughter's thumb, but once in place, she complained for a total of 1 day. On day 2, she COMPLETELY stopped sucking her thumb and, for whatever reason, enjoyed having the thumb guard on (I'm sure this fairy tale will not be what everyone experiences). It's been two weeks and she has worn Dr. thumb every single day and night. She does not attempt to suck her thumb any longer. I'm not taking any chances of recurrence so I plan to keep the thumb guard on for two more 2 weeks to make sure that this palate distorting, tooth ruining habit never comes back! By the way, she is actually able to pull the guard off her thumb finger....and she does so once in a while. Amazingly, she just ends up putting it right back on a minute later because she likes it so much. Kinda creepy. The $30ish price tag is an absolute steal when compared to how much you will spend for braces at a $$ dental office $$. Damage from thumb sucking will continue to accumulate as long as they perform this act....so you really have to act fast once you realize that the habit has not ceased and is causing a change in your child's dental palate and a shifting of the frontal teeth. Early prevention can save thousands of dollars in cost for braces and never mind all the other side effects that may result from having braces (eg. cavities due to difficulty in cleaning between the braces, damage to tooth enamel).Wish I had done this before my daughter's teeth came out because even though she has stopped, her front tooth shifting is still present. Hoping it will go away with her permanent teeth.UPDATE JULY 8, 2016: Daughter's thumb sucking never recurred. Do yourself and start earlier than age 2. The earlier the better to avoid tooth shifting etc. Made a big mistake waiting till her 2nd birthday! Should have acted faster. There is absolutely nothing cute or good about thumb sucking!!!! Believe it.

CAUTION!!! MY TODDLER GOT A RASH!!! ALLERGIC REACTION!!!!
We got this and we were very excited for anything that could keep our toddler from sucking her thumb. We chose this product and it left rashes all over her body. It seemed the buckle on the bracelet part broke her out!! Awful! She is a hardy kid and isn't allergic to anything so this was crazy. From the moment we put it on her hand started breaking out in a blotchy red rash with little bumps and then she laid it on her leg and her leg broke out. When she itches her head, her forehead broke out. We thought it could have been other things but we tested the blankets, bedding, clothes, laundry detergeant and everything else. Then we popped this back on her. It was this. She broke out again with a terrible rash! I understand it says polypropylene but it must be something else because it just made my kid rash so bad! Her stomach where it was laying that night was all red and hot too. Do not get this product. I think they are mis informing about the materials.

20 MONTH TODDLER WAS ABLE TO REMOVE
The shape of my 20 month toddler's mouth had started to be affected by her thumb sucking which sent me on a spiral to find a solution. After watching YouTube videos and reading reviews we decided to give this bad boy a chance. The 1st 3 days where needless to say very difficult as it worked very well and baby was unable to put that thumb in her mouth. However by day 4 I noticed that she was getting more and more successful at her attempts to remove the guard. I thought this was due to the fact that I would have her keep it on during baths (although it said it was safe to do so) So I started removing it at bath time, however this did not deter her and by day 7 her efforts at removing it from her thumb had become successful.

Worked for us!
Awesome product in general. We used it on my 2.5 yr old son who has sucked his thumb since he was in the womb. My son mostly sucks his thumb to sleep and for comfort when stressed during the day. For us it took some coaxing that he wanted to be a big boy and big boys don't suck their thumb. We also bought "Thumbs Up Brown Bear" book to help him. After he was on board he wore it happily for the most part and took his book to school for a week. There was crying the first couple nights, and during the day we coaxed him that if he felt the need to suck his thumb he can ask for hugs or snuggle with his blankie. Also made a point that he can snuggle with blankie without the thumb. The instructions said to wear it for 3 weeks to break the habit but my son was done with thumb sucking after 2 weeks. We took it off at playground time, meals and bath time. I think the key is making the experience a positive thing for the child and that he is willing to stop.I'd highly advise anyone buying it to check the company website for ways to adjust the device to your child's hand. Instructions are lacking in that aspect. If it isn't adjusted correctly your child will be able to remove his thumb from the guard which is why I dock a star. Luckily my son was willing to leave it on because I can see a child getting the cover off the thumb if he wanted. Also, keep good track of it when you take it off. We lost it the first week and had to replace it and it isn't exactly a cheap product.
