Bonavita v. SKG
Product: SKG Electric Pour Over Kettle Gooseneck Kettle... (.5-.8L)Pros:-Good materials-Great value for the price-Useful presets-Accurate pour / good gooseneck designCons:-Not the prettiest kettle on Amazon-Coffee temp (205º) is about 2º too hot for my taste-Construction is very basic, esp. handle-A bit smaller capacity (.8 liter) than the Bonavita-Looks a bit cheaper than the Bonavita-Loud beeper annoys some folkI bought this kettle to replace a three year old Bonavita and I’ve used it about a week, about 30 times. While the base is designed with a heating element like the Bonavita, there are differences. The Bonavita lasted about a year before the thermostat became unreliable, likely due to oxidation. I resist spending too much on temperature controlled kettles with a similar design because I doubt I will get 2 years of reliable service before either the contacts or thermostat fail. Likely this is true for the SKG also but the price makes it a better bet.The handle is a very basic affair and may be the weak point of the kettle design. A simple spot weld joins the stamped stainless handle to the pot. No sign of failure so far. The grip works well and aids in a very controlled pour. I would say it is better than the Bonavita in that regard (accurate and controlled pour) and nearly the equal of a Hario. Very good pour, no dribbles. There is no temperture readout on the SKG, just LEDs for the presets. These presets cover a sensible spread: 158º, 180º, 195º, 200º, 205º and boiling. I have not checked the accuracy of these presets but the resulting tea and coffee seem to match the temps. I would note that the coffee beans I use seem to be just a little bitter at 205º so I let the pot rest for 2 minutes before I pour over the grounds. The stainless claims to be food grade. I have no way to know if it is but I’ll accept SKG’s claim. So far there is no discoloration like the Bonavita developed; however, 3 years v. 30 cycles is an unfair comparison.I paid less than $50 for this kettle and I am pleased on my return for the dollar.

A Very Useful Kitchen Appliance
This is not the prettiest (have you seen the $150 Stagg kettle?), but it's much better looking than most other clunk pots out there at this price and functionality. For those of you with OCD, these are the negative points. The plastic bottom is not flush with the stainless steel. It juts a mm out from one side. The impressions that mark how much water to add are not placed in a user-friendly location. And it makes a grating high pitch beep when ready. HOWEVER, it is incredibly utilitarian. It's affordable. I love that the gooseneck spout doesn't spill, and that it has 6 temperature presets for the coffee illiterate like myself who don't know the ideal temperature for french press vs pour over coffee. It would be 5/5 in my book, if it just didn't make that horrible beeping.

Good quality materials and product.
I just bought this kettle for the a couple days. I am so happy I purchased this amazing kettle! It is of high quality and craftsmanship! It is easy to use and has the best pour imaginable! The spout does not drip and the amount of water that comes out during a pour is perfect! I love the hold feature - it keeps the water temperature where you need it after the first cup of coffee, or tea pour, so that the kettle does not have to start to heat over again. This is the kettle you are looking for.. Love it! I drink a lot of coffe, tea, This thing works great. Very slow and precise pour on this. Good quality materials and product.

Great kettle terrible noise. udated review 2 stars
*Update; after about 2 months the kettle will shoot the water above the selected temp. I select 205 degrees and it beeps only after a roaring boil has set in. at first coffee was perfect seeped now it had a burnt taste because the temperature is wrong.Pros:Worked beautiflyBoils/hears fast!Elegant designholds a decent amount of water.Ease of useBuilt in off for saftyCons:A little wobbly and honetly not a serious conTHE BEEP IS OBNOXIOUSLY LOUDNo silence option.Seriously the beeps are teetering on painful. All settings turned off, including keep warm, when the kettle is lifted. You need to reset the keep warm once its placed back on the hearter.I would recomend it for use and speed but bear in mind the reviews on the sounds are not exaggerated. One for eacj setting you move to (5 for pour over setting) one long one for starting the heatingr and 3 for temperature reached. 4-5 for keeping warm. If the company reads this plese have a silent option.

nice kettle.
First of all, this kettle is very delicate. The water capacity is between 0.5L and 0.8L, and the design is designed to save water. Look again, his shape, made of all-metal metal, increases the service life of the kettle and avoids damage caused by accidental collision. The spout is very clever. By observing its button options, it can be seen that the kettle provides the water temperature for different drinks. I really like design very much, it allows me to drink the water temperature that suits me, and it's boiling water very fast. The mouth of this kettle is just right for a hand to plug in, which makes it easier for me to clean.

Petite and pretty!
I don't have a lot of counter space, and this kettle is petite and not overwhelming in the space. I bought it to replace a larger ceramic kettle, that malfunctioned. I compared it's costs to that of other similar pots and it was a better value, so I can live with the loud beeps. Temp control feature is important to me as well, because I tend to set things and forget them. I don't stand there to watch water heat to the perfect temp for tea and coffee. So far, this is a nice little kettle for my needs.

Elegant looking.
The first thing I did check is the temperature accuracy on 205 degrees F. It actually heated the water to 210 degrees. The 200 setting heats it to 205 degrees. To me, that is perfect enough to what I intended to use it, Pour-Over coffee brewing at 200 setting. I highly would recommend this device. The dispenser spout could be better if the tube ID is enlarged a little bit like 1-2 mm ID.
