Laljee Godhoo Asafoetida Hing Powder

My girlfriend can’t eat allium (garlic, onion) and is also lactose intolerant. So cooking flavorful foods that she can tolerate is a challenge. This seasoning really helped me add that “garlicky” flavor to sauces and other foods that call for garlic or onion without compromising her tummy. Definitely a nice addition to my spice rack.

Couldn't find this in Atlanta so I got it here. I didn't know anything about it but a recipe called for it. It's got a very strong odor that is not pleasant, but I think it made the dish authentic.

I am interested in learning to cook authentic Indian dishes and bought this as one of the spices frequently called for. upon arrival I checked the expiration date and it was 8/2010. Thats almost two years out of date. Unacceptable.

Using it for catfish bait, really smells

I get this product at out local supplier - I once got the real stuff but can no longer find it. This has no flavor, nothing, zip nada. Might as well be using powdered sand. Don't waste your money on this. BTW all the products listed here contain various fillers. Have not found the real thing, Hing before it's powdered is a very rock hard resin and stinks like anything. You need you powder it with a rasp or a zester would work. Must be kept in a tight lidded tin.
