OtherWorldComputing is advertising a nice USB-C hub for three times the price of this ...
works as advertised. Most importantly: unlike the IVSO hub adapter that only claims it charges the MacBook while also connecting the USB devices, this one actually does it! I was able to connect to two portable HDs and do a hard-wired back-up while charging.OtherWorldComputing is advertising a nice USB-C hub for three times the price of this adapter; though it appears to be more complex, their promised delivery has slipped from September 2015 until today, and still counting...The only drawback of this adapter is that its physical connection to the MacBook, via the USB-C port, is flimsy. One has to be careful not to disconnect it by the sheer weight of the 3 cables attached to it....

Color matches nicely. Sits flush
The product works as advertised, color matches nicely. Sits flush, no stress on the connector with SD cards and flash drivers.Charging through Macbook and operating with devices as iPhone 6 and flash USB 3.0 drives of several kinds, USB 2.0 and 3.0 external Hard Drives and SD cards. However, connecting a USB extension hub (with 4 ports), only the USB 2.0 including flash drives and 3.0 devices HD non flash will work properly, the flash USB 3.0 drives won't work with an extension Hub, due to OS X conflict which I hope it will be fixed with future OS X updates. It's a small delicate adapter so it has to be treated gently, nothing out of the ordinary.

Works great, but not a USB-C Data passthrough
As the review title says... Overall this device works great and does everything, but the USB-C is NOT a full pass-through. It only passes through power (So it's USB-C PD, which is not mentioned in the specs). So don't be mislead into thinking it'll do a data passthrough as well.

Great design, not totally reliable.
First off, I'll start off by saying the quality/material on this product is very good.It has sharp corners, looks appealing, very minimalist, and is something like an Apple product would've been designed. I bought a space grey version and it matched perfectly with my laptop. In terms of functionality, that's where this product has the tendency to fail my expectations. You'd expect a $60 works like a $60 product but it's not always the case.First Flaw: UnreliabilityFirst of all, I am a person who every so often manages Terrabytes of information like my summer vacation videos I shot on my GoPro in 4K or all the photos/videos I captured throughout the year off of my 128GB iPhone 6S Plus which are also in 4K. Theres a lot of critical information that I cannot spare to lose and I'm sure many of you understand.I'll start off by saying if you're moving large amounts of data, BE EXTRA CAUTOUS! Theres many times where I begin moving 500GBs of data to my other hard drive and for the slightes movement of my laptop, the file transfer breaks and disconnects and reconnects both my hard drives in seconds. Could be a design flaw or hardware issue. Who knows. All I know is that if you're transferring large amounts of data, you must be EXTREMELY careful with not touching any of these peripherals. I'm not saying this has happened a few times. Ever since I got the product which was last year, it's happened at least twice a month. It got so bad I literally had to buy a wireless mouse in order to avoid any interference.Second flaw: The wiggle.I understand the periferal has no bottom support for it to stabilize perfectly when connected to my laptop. But you can't make a product that wiggles to the point where you NEED to put something at the bottom so it doesn't look like it will break off. Other periferals haven't given me issues. I know it's a large attachement but this shouldn't wiggle as bad as it does.

A great product.
A great product. So far, I've only used the USB A connection to transfer data to a new MacBook, but it did what it was supposed to do. I'll be using it for the Micro SD once I get settled in to my new digs. Matches the finish of the Mac well, and has a small indicator light. As to some reviews saying it's not well built, I'd say it fairly well built - if it was built like a tank, it'd be bigger, bulkier and heavier - just treat it with a little respect and you should be fine.

Adapter only reads hard drive while charging
EDIT again: rated this back down to 3 stars. I received the 2nd one they shipped me. The customer service is amazing. However the new product still has the same issue as the first- it cannot read my HDD unless the hub is connected to the charger as well. I guess that's how the product is designed? This rating is 3 stars because with this problem, it is not worth anywhere near $45 in my opinion and because it is not explained on the box or in the Amazon product description about reading an external HDD. thanks for the great customer service Satechi but this product needs work or your description needs to be updated.I will try finding another external hard drive to test. If it works I'll push my rating back upEDIT: I have bumped up this review from 2 stars to 5 stars because of the amazing customer service. They contacted me after my review and helped me out. Thank you Satechi------This adapter only reads my external hard drive when the charger is also plugged in the usb-c port. i don't know if mine is defective or this is how it's meant to be but it was not mentioned anywhere in the description. if i plug in my iphone alone it reads it fine, however i am sure if i try to plug in two devices it won't work unless its in the charger which defeats the purpose of this adapter in my opinion.i read some bad reviews on this product but i bought it anyway thinking it probably won't happen to me but i was wrong.
