A great shelf book.
Too many shell programmers sit at the keyboard and bang their heads because they are stuck on a simple problem. I caught myself reaching for this book more than once.

A bit thin on examples
Lots of really great, well-explained content. It was sometimes dense and tended toward the theoretical side, though. I would have liked to see more working examples.

Could of been better
The organization of the material is all over the place. Not a lot of examples and hard to learn advanced shell scripts with basic material; just because you show a bunch of commands/prompts/options doesn't mean a new/intermediate user will understand how it comes together. On top of that some examples of commands/prompts/options are shown using the command line and not writing a basic script which would make the reader understand it more.

Yoo basic for a 20_ year writer of shell scripts
I have been writing shell scripts for 20+ years, I found ;ittle new in this book. YMMVv
