This offers good protection of my nice hardwood desk. Good for writing on, using as a mouse pad, even as a place to put a coffee cup or water bottle so as to not stain my desk. Only concern is will it break down over time and damage the desk top itself. Too soon to tell for that.

I like this desk mat -- it's a good size for me and stays put on the desk without sliding around.I'm not exactly sure what it's made of (the Ad says leather, although it doesn't quite feel like that), but it works great as a big 'ol mouse pad, which is what I wanted. It's also a bit cushiony, so it's comfortable to rest my arms/hands on as well. The way it's made, I don't think it'll curl up on the edges like some of the other pads I looked at.I also like the wide variety of colors; I ended up getting one in 'Green-Blue', and I like it a lot; it looks really nice on my desk.A good buy for the price.
